Conscious Horsemanship
Whole Brained Horsemanship

“If you want to get close to the horse, you have to get close to yourself. Then the horse can come to you…”

- Carol Nichols

Whole Brained Horsemanship is Sandra’s new and anticipated horsemanship program, invaluable for equestrians from all walks of life. As horse people we talk about our horses going left or right brained in response to an event or circumstance.  What many of us fail to recognize is we often do the same thing, engaging with the world and our horses while being only partially present, going left or right brained ourselves instead of utilizing the full potential of both hemispheres simultaneously (being whole brained).

In Whole Brained Horsemanship you’ll learn why being whole brained is the key to heightened learning with horses whether your desired outcome is the national dressage team or walking at liberty with your horse. You’ll also learn how to use your subconscious mind to become more horse conscious, and in turn, create and live the life you’ve imagined … with your horses and beyond.

Workshop Dates

What people are noticing with their horses:

My horse was being reactive as we approached the little creek by our home.  She’d been through it a hundred times on her own but this was the first time we’d tried it together.  I went back to what I learned with Sandra and created a whole brained state for myself while envisioning my desired outcome. Within moments, Bree quieted and we walked confidently across the creek.  It was such a simple yet powerful example of how my internal state affects her.  ~ Diane Willis

Last year I went to a riding clinic with an acclaimed instructor.  We were working with the horses at his centre and he chose Apollo for me to ride.  Well Apollo and I had been butting heads since day one and I moaned at my bad luck.  I climbed aboard and we entered the arena.  Every step was a battle and my frustration continued to mount.  I was a good rider but this horse was making me look bad. In exasperation I got off Apollo and walked over to the rail.  I sat down on a mounting block and exhaled.  I wondered if doing a whole brain exercise would help – it sure couldn’t hurt.  Within seconds of starting the exercise, Apollo dropped his head and exhaled.  ~ Sharon Abernathy

When I do whole brained exercises before I go out to the barn, the horses greet me at the gate instead of making me walk out to find them. ~ Suzanne Anderson
